Half Price for the First Fifty Waste Carriers to Join WasteLinks

The first fifty licensed waste carriers to join WasteLinks get half price for a year, with nothing to pay upfront and no contract. Here is how it works.

We are opening WasteLinks to its first fifty licensed waste carriers, and every one of them will pay half price for their first year on the platform. There is nothing to pay upfront, no contract to sign, and no catch buried in the small print. If you run a skip hire business, a grab lorry, a clearance firm or a recycling operation and you hold a valid Environment Agency carrier registration, this is written for you.

Once fifty carriers have been approved, the offer closes and the platform goes back to standard pricing. We are being deliberate about the number because we would rather look after a small group properly than sign up hundreds and leave them wondering whether anyone is paying attention.

What the founding carrier offer actually includes

Every carrier who joins WasteLinks gets their listing free through the beta and for three months after we launch properly. That has always been the case and it has not changed. What the founding fifty get on top of that is fifty per cent off their subscription for the following twelve months, whichever plan they choose. On our Starter plan that brings the monthly cost down to under twenty five pounds. On Professional it is under fifty, and on Trader it is under a hundred.

There is a second part to it for carriers who want to commit. Our standard commission is ten per cent on work you win through the platform, and you only ever pay it on jobs that actually go ahead. If you choose to pay your discounted year in a single payment rather than monthly, that commission halves to five per cent for the same twelve months. To be clear, paying annually is entirely optional. The half price subscription applies either way, and nobody has to hand over a year of fees to qualify for it.

Why we are doing this, honestly

WasteLinks is new. We are building the customer side of the marketplace right now, which means we are not sitting on a pile of jobs waiting to be handed out. Pretending otherwise would be the fastest way to lose the trust of an industry that has heard plenty of promises from technology companies.

What we can offer instead is genuine early access on genuinely better terms, and a real say in how the platform develops. The carriers who join in these first weeks are the ones whose feedback shapes what we build next, because there is nobody else in the queue ahead of them. That is worth more than a discount, though the discount helps.

How work actually reaches you

This is the part carriers ask about first, so it is worth being precise. There is no bidding and no quoting war. You list the services you offer and you set your own prices, exactly as you would on your own website. Customers in your area find you by entering their postcode, they see who covers them, and they book you directly at the prices you have set. You then confirm the jobs you want and decline the ones you do not. Nothing is ever assigned to you without your say.

Because you set the prices yourself, the commission does not have to come out of your margin. Most carriers build it into their platform rate the way a hotel does on a booking site, so the customer covers the fee and the job still nets what it would have done anyway. That is a decision you make, not one we make for you.

What you get besides the discount

Compliance is the part we have spent the most time on, because it is the part that costs carriers real money when it goes wrong. When you register, we check your company live against the Companies House public data service, looking at whether it is active, whether the company type is one we accept, whether there is an insolvency case open and whether any current director is disqualified. We check your waste carrier registration against the Environment Agency public register at the same time, including the tier and the expiry date. Carriers who clear both checks are approved automatically, usually within minutes.

After that, a daily check keeps an eye on your registration expiry and emails you well before it lapses, so a renewal you forgot about does not quietly stop you working. Every completed job produces a proper Section 34 waste transfer note with your authorised signatory on it, and those notes are archived for two years with a bulk export whenever you need them. Payments run through Stripe, so payouts land in your bank rather than sitting on an invoice you have to chase.

There is a driver app that handles the day to day work, capturing signatures, photographs and the disposal site as your driver moves through a job. The iOS version is in final testing at the moment and the Android build is coming after it, so for now the browser dashboard covers everything a carrier needs.

What happens when the offer ends

Our standard vendor plans are forty nine pounds ninety nine a month for Starter, ninety nine for Professional and one hundred and ninety nine for Trader, and you can see exactly what each one includes on our pricing page. Founding carriers keep their half price rate for the full twelve months regardless of what happens to our prices in the meantime, and we record the exact terms you were given when you join so there is never any argument about it later.

If it turns out the platform does not work for your business, you can leave. There is no notice period, no exit fee and nothing to pay upfront. It is worth being straight about how the two charges differ, because they do not work the same way. The subscription is a monthly cost like any other tool your business pays for, and it falls due whether or not a job comes through that month, which is exactly why we would rather you cancelled than carried on paying for something that is not earning its keep. The commission works the other way round. It only ever applies to jobs that have actually gone ahead, so it can never cost you money you have not already been paid for.

How to claim one of the fifty places

Registration takes a few minutes. You will need your Environment Agency carrier registration number, your Companies House number if you are a registered company, your public liability insurance details and the name of whoever is authorised to sign waste transfer notes on your behalf. Have those to hand and you can be listed the same day.

You can start at our carrier registration page, and if you would rather talk it through first we are very happy to do that instead. We would sooner spend twenty minutes on the phone with a carrier who has questions than sign up someone who is not sure what they are joining.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know whether the fifty places are still available?

The offer appears on our pricing page and our carrier registration page for as long as places remain. When the fiftieth carrier is approved it disappears from both, automatically. If you can see it, there is still room.

Do I have to pay for a year upfront to get the discount?

No. The half price subscription applies to all fifty founding carriers with no conditions attached. Paying the year in one payment is optional and the only thing it changes is your commission rate, which drops from ten per cent to five for that year.

When does the discounted year actually start?

Your listing is free through the beta and for three months after launch. The discounted twelve months begin when that free period ends, so the first payment is some way off yet.

What does the ten per cent commission apply to?

Only to work you win through WasteLinks, and only once the job has gone ahead. Your existing customers and your own website are nothing to do with us, and we take no share of them.

What if my Environment Agency registration expires while I am listed?

We monitor it daily and email you before it lapses. A carrier without valid registration cannot legally move waste, so listings are paused rather than left live, which protects you as much as the customer.

Is WasteLinks only for London carriers?

We are concentrating on London and the surrounding counties first because that is where our early customer demand is, but we register carriers across England and Wales. If you cover an area we have not reached yet, say so when you sign up and we will tell you honestly where we are with it.

If you would like the full detail before you decide, you can download our vendor introduction pack, which covers the plans, the commission, the compliance checks and how jobs reach you, all in one document you can read at your own pace or pass to whoever else needs to see it.
